Performance Art is art where the artist acts out a piece of their own work. The four basic elements of performance art are time, space, the performers body and the relationship between performer and audience. Performance art includes theater, dance, music, and circus-related things like fire breathing, juggling, and gymnastics.                                                                                                                                     

Installation Art is art that uses sculptures and other media for a specific site. It uses three-dimensional works designed to transform the perception of a space. Installation art includes using new media such as video, sound, performance, immersive virtual reality and the internet.

Who is Laurie Anderson?

Laurie Anderson is a performance artist and also plays the violin and keyboards. She was initially trained as a sculptor but did her first performance art piece in the late 1960's. In 1977, she created a tape-bow violin that uses recorded magnetic tape on the bow instead of horsehair and a magnetic tape head in the bridge.
